Confessions

Sep 02, 2015-Nov 28, 2015

One exhibit two spaces

The Cooley Gallery and the lumber room, Portland

The lumber room and the Douglas F. Cooley Memorial Art Gallery, Reed College, are proud to present the Northwest’s first comprehensive exhibition of the work of internationally recognized, Portland-based artist Jessica Jackson Hutchins.

Confessions is a collective endeavor that seeks transparency about the distinctions between collecting, curating, and making, while exploring related concerns such as the care, circulation, and preservation of works of art. The exhibition is organized by Portland collector Sarah Miller Meigs and Cooley Gallery curator and director Stephanie Snyder, working closely with Hutchins to develop one interrelated exhibition that expresses the distinctiveness of each space, while allowing the artist to investigate their differences in situ through experimentation and dialogue.
